BMW C evolution proud winner of Spark Gold Design Award

Mensagem por amandio » 14 dez 2015 13:16

BMW Motorrad’s innovative all-electric maxi-scooter – the C evolution – has won a prestigious Gold accolade at the Spark Design Awards, an annual competition that encourages and honours designs that contribute to making the world a better place. This latest recognition for the BMW C evolution proves that emission-free, sustainable riding pleasure can be achieved in combination with great design.

First staged in 2007, the core mission of the Spark Design Awards is to help create a better world though design excellence. For the 2015 edition, there were 500 short-listed entries from all over the world, which were focused into 10 major design categories, including Cause, Communication, Digital, Experience, Health, Space, Transport, Wear, Product and Concept.

The C evolution maxi-scooter is an important part of the BMW Group’s sustainability strategy and one of several electro-mobility vehicle solutions developed to address how we move around efficiently in the urban environments. Hi-tech features such as innovative electric drive and high-voltage battery with recuperation technology are encased in a thrilling, inspiring design that draws on the familiar distinctive and dynamic styling cues of the BMW Motorrad family.

In winning this Gold Spark Design Award, the C evolution is in good company. Previous recipients of the highest award – the Spark – include the electric BMW i3 city car and i8 plug-in hybrid sports vehicle, both of which were proud winners in 2013. This year’s ‘Spark’ award in the Transport category actually went to an intuitive aircraft with folding wings that can be towed behind a car and stored away from airports – and can take off and land on water or a runway.

As well as cars, motorcycles, aircraft and trucks, this year's Transportation category also included electric bicycles, baggage handling trains, e-drones and even a downloadable cafe-racer. There were several products from the BMW Group portfolio among the category winners for 2015, including the R 1200 R roadster, which won a Bronze award; while the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R and the BMW 7 Series cars both won Silver awards.

In fact, there was solid representation from the BMW group throughout the Transportation category, with the BMW Concept 101 and Concept Path 22 models also making the finals, alongside the S 1000 RR series production supersports bike. On four wheels, the BMW X1 sports utility vehicle and the MINI Clubman also made the short-listed finals.

Since the nominations were initially submitted, a team of VIP designer jurors has been hard at work, evaluating some of the most innovative and creative designs in the world made by talented individuals or teams that are dedicated to improving our lives in a positive way. The results were announced by Peter Kuchnicki, Spark Founder.
